Little Match Girl: November 2016
Based on the Hans Christian Andersen short story, 36 dancers brought this heartbreaking tale to life. Set in a small village on Christmas Eve, the orphan Lucyna could not sell any matches that day to the busy inhabitants. Hungry, lonely and shivering as night fell, Lucyna took refuge by striking her unsold matches. Their light created three beautiful visions for the suffering girl: warmth from vibrant fire fairies, joy from dancing dolls and loving comfort from a chorus of angels. The ballet featured all original choreography created by Angelica South.
